BEST TIME TO VISIT BARCELONA
Like many European cities, Barcelona can be enjoyed all year round. Located in southern Europe along the Mediterranean coast, the city experiences hot summers and mild, comfortable winters.
July and August are the hottest months: perfect for sunseekers but also the busiest time of year, as it’s peak tourist season. If you love combining sightseeing with lazy beach days, plan your trip between June and September. The beach is just a short ride/doable walk from the city center, making it easy to cool off with a quick dip in the sea.
Prefer fewer crowds and cooler temperatures? Then autumn and winter (November to March) are ideal. You’ll have more space to explore Barcelona’s top attractions like La Sagrada Família to Park Güell, without long lines or the summer heat.

HOW TO GET TO BARCELONA
Arrival by plane
Most travelers arrive in Barcelona by plane, landing at Barcelona El Prat International Airport (BCN), the city’s main airport located about 15 km from the center.
The easiest and most affordable way to reach downtown is by taking the AeroBús to Plaça de Catalunya. These buses run every 10 minutes, and the ride takes around 30–40 minutes. A single ticket costs around €11,00 and can be purchased online.
Another convenient option is the metro. Line L9 Sud connects the airport to the city, where you can transfer to other lines to reach your accommodation. Depending on your final stop, the trip takes roughly 30–40 minutes as well.
If you prefer comfort and speed, taxis are readily available just outside the terminals, they’re more expensive but ideal if you’re traveling with luggage or arriving late at night. Book your easy transfer here.
Arrival by train
If you’re arriving from another Spanish or European city, you’ll likely arrive at Barcelona-Sants, the city’s main railway station. From here, you can easily connect to the metro or bus to reach the city center or your hotel.

WHERE TO STAY IN BARCELONA
Choosing the right area to stay in Barcelona can make a big difference in your trip experience. Depending on your preferences, you can opt for accommodation in the bustling city centre or closer to the relaxing beach areas.
If it’s your first time visiting Barcelona, I highly recommend staying near Plaça de Catalunya. This central location puts you within walking distance of popular attractions, vibrant bars, top restaurants, and convenient public transportation.
During my visit, I stayed at Boutique Hotel H10 Catalunya Plaza and couldn’t recommend it more. The hotel impressed me with its stylish, clean rooms, friendly staff, and unbeatable location right in the heart of the city.

To fully experience the city, including its main attractions, vibrant neighborhoods, and, weather permitting, some relaxing time at the beach, 3 to 4 days is ideal. This gives you enough time to explore landmarks , enjoy delicious local cuisine, and soak in the city’s unique atmosphere without feeling rushed.

HOW TO GET AROUND IN BARCELONA
Barcelona has an excellent public transportation system, with frequent metro and bus services connecting all major parts of the city. In my experience, the metro is the easiest and fastest way to get around.
Other transportation options include taxis, apps like Uber, Free Now, city buses, or even bike rentals for a more scenic route. For shorter distances, I highly recommend walking, Barcelona is such a beautiful city, and exploring on foot lets you soak in the architecture, streets, and local atmosphere.
