Travel guide to Kuala Lumpur

September 30, 2023

Kuala Lumpur, they call it the NYC of Asia. After a visit of 2 weeks it became clear to me why people refer to this city in such way: busy streets, many skyscrapers, overload on shops and lots of things to do. Here is your travel guide to Kuala Lumpur.

HOW TO GET TO KUALA LUMPUR

Chances are you’ll fly internationally into Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur’s international airport is located a 1 hour drive from the city center.

A taxi (Grab) will be the easiest way to reach the center. Other options are a shuttle bus or the train.

HOW TO GET AROUND KUALA LUMPUR

Don’t think about renting a car or scooter here. The best way to get around is by Grab (taxi app) or public transport – especially the monorail is suitable when exploring the city center.

Both are very convenient and affordable.

Note that traffic can become hectic at night, especially around the area of the Pavilion and KLCC.

Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur:

The Bukit Bintang area is the most lively district in KL. Stay at WOLO Kuala Lumpur to be right in the middle of all the entertainment.

Another recommendation in the Bukit Bintang area with a rooftop pool: MOV Hotel

Last but not least, my favourite hotel in all of Kuala Lumpur: Kloé Hotel, book this hotel for the stylish interior, clean & fresh rooms and a beautiful outdoor area!
